Default USRCCA NW Worlds Qualifier talk...

Hi All,

Jason has begun planning all the BIG regional events used to qualify for the USRCCA Worlds. Essentially, there will be one qualifier per month somewhere in the country. Most have already been planned, such as the WCC, Rocas Rojas, etc.. but he needs a big NW event. He'd like us (WA, OR and ID) to come together and host a big event in August. The winner of this event (or top #, depending on what he says) will get an invite to Worlds.

This will be part of the new USRCCA Series, which will bring much attention, coverage, sponsorships and more to our clubs and areas.

We need to discuss things, like which weekend in August, as well as location. Who'd be willing to help out?

Discuss!
RYan

I will be more than happy to help run a comp like this, but where would we have the needed room for the courses and parking? Most of our better comp sites are next to a river or streem, and in August we will be competing with the river rats, sun worshipers and kids wanting to party at the swimming hole for space and more importantly the available parking. The only exception I can see would maybe be Big Eddie.

Since this is to be a tri state event, Is there somewhere up near Tanis's home area that could handle this type of event? It would be more centrally located, and near a major road (I-84), and there are plenty of motels in that general area for people to stay at. We will also need to identify camping area,s either at or near the comp site. Unfortunatly, all the camping sites up near Big Eddie are generally booked far in advance in August, as that is in the Mount Hood Forrest District, and they have a very tight reign on camping.

Just my thoughts, and maybe they will help someone else start thinking as well.

Wayne,

I was thinking some of the same things. I am not sure we have a comp spot in this area that could handle the volume of people that might be at a comp like this. I wonder about some place up on Mt. Hood or that area. Should be less other people since it would be away from the major rivers, but not sure about comp spots up there. Thinking out loud, what about some place like Ski Bowl? Might be worth checking out after some snow melts.

I am not sure there would be enough parking for an event like this. No offense to anyone, but I don't think Dave's place would be the best representation for an event of this caliber.

Come on up here to some good rocks.....I'm about halfway between Oregon and Idaho. I've got a spot 2 minutes from I-84 in Yakima, I can try to contact the owner if needed, he's already given me permission to play there and it's a big area with lots of area to park. And I'm not planning on going to Nat's, so no homefield advantage for me.
I'd say there is at least as much parking as Lucia(dirt, not gravel though), and Fred Meyer is only 2 minutes away and some could park there and shuttle, if there is that many people attending.

What a wonderfull opertunity to come together and showcase the PNW.

Put me on the list of those who are anxious to help.

Please pardon my ignorance but what clubs outside of Oregon and Washington are we talking about coordinating with?

I would be WAY happy to help. Also would be happy to have another shot at qualifying. I agree with centralizing the thing. Seems fair if we are including ID.
